Providence Falls To Wisconsin In Overtime… The Friars lost to Wisconsin, 3-2, in overtime on Sunday, Sept. 12 in Madison, Wis. Freshman Maria Paveglio (Lake Orion, Mich.) gave the Friars a 1-0 advantage in the first half off a pass from fifth-year Hannah McNulty (Warwick, R.I.). McNulty's assist marked her 58th career point. She is now tied for fourth place among the program's all-time scoring leaders. Providence scored off a Wisconsin own goal to even the score. With one minute left in regulation, Hughes took a shot to win the game, but it was saved by Wisconsin.

Series History Against Brown… The Friars hold a 10-21-0 record all-time against the Bears, winning four out of their last five meetings. On their last meeting on Sept. 15, 2019 the Friars lost 1-0 at Brown.

Scouting The Bears… Brown enters Thursday with a 4-2-0 overall record and are coming off a 2-1 loss against Notre Dame. Due to the pandemic, the Ivy League did not compete in the spring. Hughes was the lone Friar to receive preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, Hughes played in all 12 games for the Friars and appeared in the starting lineup four times. She led Providence in points (14), assists (six) and was tied for first on the team in goals (four). At the conclusion of the season, she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST Second Team and BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
