Meg Hughes scored the lone goal for the Friars.

Providence, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team tied the Rhode Island Rams, 1-1, in their season opener on Aug.19 in Kingston, R.I. Sophomore Meg Hughes scored the lone goal for the Friars. Sophomore Emma Bodmer returned to goal for her second season and had nine saves for the Friars.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
-Rhode Island took the first two shots of the game in the eighth minute. Bodmer grabbed her first two saves of the season. 
- Hughes scored the first goal of the season in the 26th minute by going coast-to-coast then hit the back of the net with a shot from the corner of the box. 
-Bodmer picked up her third save of the game in the 38th minute.
-In the 46th minute, Rhode Island's Brooke Cavino scored off a rebound to tie the game. 
- In the 77th minute, Alexis Rothmann's shot was saved by Rhode Island goalkeeper Faith Hutchins. 
-At the end of regulation, the score was tied 1-1. 
-Providence outshot Rhode Island 7-4 in the second half. 
-Emma Bodmer made four saves in the two overtime periods. 
-The match ended in a 1-1 draw.
