Providence defeated Sacred Heart with four different goal scorers.
Providence R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team shut out Sacred Heart, 4-0, in its home opener on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on August 25. Amber Birchwell (Mastic, N.Y.) scored the first goal for the Friars just 2:49 into the the first half. Freshman Maria Paveglio (Lake Orion, Mich.) followed with her first career goal at 17:49 of the first half. Junior Angie Suaza (Nashua, N.H.) scored her first career goal in the first minute of the second half. Sophomore Kyla Gallagher (Farmington, Conn.) wrapped up the Friars' scoring in the second half with her first goal of the season in the 65th minute.

GAME FLOW & NOTES -In the 2nd minute of the first half, Birchwell, scored her first goal of the season with an assist from Meg Hughes.
