Case comes to Providence with four years of eligibility.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -  It was announced today (June 9) that Matteus Case (Pickering, Ontario) has signed an athletic aid agreement and will transfer to Providence College from the University of Pennsylvania.  Case, who was a freshman in 2020-21, will come to Providence with four years of eligibility.  Matteus was a member of the Quakers men's basketball team last season but did not see any action as Ivy League teams did not play games due to the pandemic.

"We are looking forward to Matteus being a Friar next season," Head Coach Ed Cooley said.  "Matteus competed at a very high level in high school and he has experience with the Canadian National Team.  We feel that he will be a great fit in the Friar family."

Case, a 6-foot, 5-inch, 180-pound guard, played his final two seasons of high school basketball at Chaminade College Prep in St. Louis, Mo.  At Chaminade, he averaged 10.1 ppg and shot 34 percent from three-point territory (34-100).   As a senior, Case helped Chaminade capture the 2020 St. Louis District title as the team posted a 21-7 mark. He played AAU basketball for the Northern Kings on the Under Armour Rise Circuit in 2019.  He averaged 12.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists.  He also shot 59 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point territory.  In 2017, Case played on Team Canada's U-16 Boy's National Team at the FIBA Americas Championship where the team captured the silver medal.
