JACKSONVILLE, FLA. - The Providence College women's track team competed in day four of the first round of the NCAA Championship in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 29. The Friars had two athletes competing in the 5,000 meter semifinals. To qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championship finals the competitors must place top-five in their heat, or the next two best times.
Freshman
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) and sophomore
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) competed in the 5,000 meters. Mooney placed 12
th in her heat in a time of 16:29.76. Tuck finished 18
th in her heat, in a time of 16:46.36.
Providence will continue to the NCAA Championship finals in Eugene, Oreg. On June 9
th to the 13
th. AJ Ernst (Marblehead, Mass.), Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.), and
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) will be competing for the Friars.
