KINGSTON, R.I.- The Providence College women's indoor track team competed at the Mackal Field House in Kingston, R.I. on Thursday, Feb. 11.
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) raced a personal best, 4:44.81, in the mile run. Wheeler's time ranks top-15 in the NCAA.
Providence swept the top four spots in the 3,000-meter.
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) crossed the line first at 9:30.10 followed by freshman
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) in second (9:49.94).
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) finished shortly behind Mooney at 9:50.22.
Orla O'Connor (Waterford, Ireland) was the fourth Friar at 10:08.13.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) and
Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) placed first and second, respectively, in the 1,000-meter. O'Neill crossed the line in 2:54.99 and Hunt in 2:57.58.
In the 500-meter,
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) started the season strong with a 1:19.48 time and second-place finish.
The DMR team of O'Neill,
Emme Conan (Skanteateles, N.Y.),
Ashley Foley (Beverly, Mass.) and Hunt finished in 12:31.64 and placed first.
The Providence women's indoor track team competes next back in Kingston, R.I. on Feb. 25.
