Friars and Wildcats will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 30 at Anderson Stadium.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 18 Providence College men's soccer team will host BIG EAST foe Villanova in its regular-season home finale on Saturday, Oct. 30 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network via FloSports. Prior to the match, the Friars will honor four members of the program who will be completing their careers with the team at the conclusion of the season. The honorees include graduate students Simon Triantafillou (Burlington, Ontario), Davis Smith (Amherst, Mass.), Malcolm Duncan (Toronto, Ontario) and graduate assistant Garrett King (Scarborough, Maine).

All-Time Series Notes:
• Providence and Villanova have met 31 times during the history of the two soccer programs. The Friars lead the all-time series, 18-11-2.
• The two teams played twice last season, as part of the altered spring schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Providence swept the season series with a 1-0 victory in double overtime on the road, and a 2-0 victory at Anderson Stadium.
• The Friars have earned victories in each of the last six meetings during the series.
• The last time Villanova defeated the Friars dates back to Oct. 14, 2015. The Wildcats earned a 2-1 win on that day in Villanova, Pa.
Scouting Providence:
• The Friars enter the weekend with an 9-2-3 overall record, including a 5-1-2 mark in the BIG EAST Conference.
• Providence currently ranks second in the BIG EAST standings (17 points), with two league games remaining on the regular-season schedule, including Saturday's match against Villanova.
• The Friars are currently ranked No. 18 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
• Providence has been inside the top-25 of the United Soccer Coaches Poll for six-consecutive weeks.
• Providence is unbeaten at home on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium (6-0-1).
• Both of the Friars' losses this season have come on the road. In addition to its most recent loss at Butler (Oct. 16), Providence fell to New Hampshire, 2-1, in Durham, N.H. on Sept. 3.
• On Oct. 13, the Friars defeated top-ranked and previously unbeaten Georgetown, 3-0.
• It marked Providence's first victory over Georgetown since Oct. 15, 2014 when it defeated the Hoyas, 2-0, in Washington, D.C.
• The Friars will close their regular-season schedule against Creighton on Nov. 3 in Omaha, Neb. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. (ET).
Potent Offense
• The Friars have the No. 1 ranked scoring offense in the BIG EAST Conference and they rank 16th in NCAA Division I with an average of 2.36 goals per game. The Friars are first in the league in points per game (7.14), which ranks 14th in the nation.
• Providence also leads the league in total goals (33) and rank 17th in NCAA Division I in total points (100), which ranks 16th nationally.
• Additionally, Providence ranks third in the BIG EAST in total assists (34) and ranks 20th in the NCAA.
• Thirteen players on the Friars' roster have scored at least one goal through 14 games. Nine of those 13 players have scored two-or-more goals this season.
Second Half Surge
• Providence has scored 24 of its 33 goals this season during the second half.
Players to Watch
• Brendan McSorley and Luis Garcia are tied for the team lead in points (14). McSorely has tallied six goals and two assists, while Garcia has tallied five goals and four assists.
• Paulo Lima and Davis Smith have each cracked double digits in the points column, with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Lima has collected four goals and three assists, while Smith has recorded three goals and four assists.
• Simon Triantafillou leads the team in assists and ranks third in the BIG EAST, with five.
• Garcia and Smith are tied for second in assists (four).
• Lukas Burns has played 1,306 minutes in goal for the Friars this season and has been the goalkeeper of record in all 14 games. He owns a 0.97 goals against average, which ranks third in the BIG EAST, and a 0.745 save percentage. He has recorded four shut-out victories.
Friars Against Ranked Opponents:
• Providence has earned a 3-1-0 record vs. nationally ranked opponents. The Friars' only loss vs. ranked foes came against then-No. 14 New Hampshire, 2-1, on Sept. 18.
Friars in Overtime:
• Providence has posted a 1-0-3 record this season in overtime, including a 1-0-2 mark during BIG EAST play.
Scouting Villanova:
• The Wildcats enter the match with a 9-6 overall record, including a 4-4 mark in the BIG EAST.
• Villanova currently sits in fifth place in the BIG EAST standings, with 12 points.
• The Wildcats are 5-2 on the road this season; 4-4 at home.
• Lyam MacKinnon leads the Wildcats in points (14), goals (seven) and assists (four).
• Balthi Saunders is second in scoring with nine points on four goals and one assist.
• Seidu Shamsudeen is the only other Wildcats to score more than one goal this year (two), and is tied for third on the team with four points.
• Carson Williams has played the majority of the minutes in goal for Villanova (1200). He owns a 1.35 goals against average and a 0.714 save percentage. He has posted a 7-6 overall record, including four shutouts.
• Kent Dickey has appeared in three games and has logged 198 minutes in goal but was the starter in the Wildcats most recent game against Northwestern. Dickey is 2-0 on the year, with both wins coming in the form of a shutout. He has a 0.45 goals against average and a 0.889 save percentage.
