PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore forward
Nick Poisson (Vancouver, B.C.) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday, October 25.
Poisson led a frantic third-period rally on Friday against No. 8 Denver, recording a hat trick and an assist in the final 20 minutes as the Friars erased a three-goal deficit to beat the Pioneers, 6-5. Poisson is tied for the team lead in scoring with 10 points, which also ranks second among all Hockey East players. Providence finished the weekend at 2-0 after a shutout victory over New Hampshire on Sunday night.
The Friars and Wildcats will go to battle against next weekend as the teams will play a home-and-home set beginning Friday night (Oct. 29) at Schneider Arena.
