PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Â The Providence College volleyball team lost in straight sets to No. 19 Creighton, 25-17, 25-22, 25-14, on Sunday, Oct. 19. The Friars hold a 13-8 overall record (1-7 BIG EAST) and the Bluejays stay at the top of the BIG EAST conference standings with a 6-2 record, 18-3 overall.

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â The Bluejays jumped out to an early 12-1 lead in the first set. The Friars made up some ground, improving to 16-21 before Creighton took the set, 25-17.

Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) led the Friars with four kills on nine total attacks.
Â
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) had a team-high six assists.
Â
Emma Nelson (West Chester, Pa.) paced the defensive side with a team-high four digs.
Â
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â The second set was a back-and-forth affair, including 11 ties and six lead changes. Creighton created some space following a 19-19, edging the Friars 25-22. Â
Rhoden had a set-high four kills on eight total attacks.

Barber tallied seven assists for the Friars along with a team-high six digs.

THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â Creighton opened the set on a 12-3 run. The Bluejays held the lead and won the set, 25-14.

Rhoden and
Jiji Lykins (Virginia Beach, Va. ) both led the Friars with two kills.

Barber had team-highs five assists and six digs.
Â
Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also added six digs in the third set.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

Barber tallied her 13
th double-double of the season with 18 assists and 14 digs. She also recorded a team-high in digs (14).

Rhoden paced the Friars with 10 kills on 21 total attacks.

As a team, the Friars recorded 25 kills on 104 total attacks, 44 digs, 25 assists, and four total team blocks.

WHAT'S NEXT:Â Providence will host Villanova and Georgetown next weekend. The Friars take on the Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 22 at 6:00 p.m. and the Bulldogs on Saturday, Oct. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
