PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team will travel to St. John's University on Sunday, Oct. 17. The Friars enter the match with an 8-4-2 overall record, including a 3-2-1 mark in BIG EAST play. On Thursday, Oct. 14, Providence fell to Butler, 1-0, in overtime in Indianapolis, Ind. It marked the fifth time in six games that the Friars have gone into overtime against BIG EAST opponents.

Providence Falls To Butler In Overtime... The Friars fell, 1-0, to Butler in overtime on Thursday, Oct. 14 in Indianapolis, Ind. After 90 minutes of play, the score was tied at 0-0. In the 96
th minute, the Bulldogs scored the golden goal.
Hughes, Bodmer Earn BIG EAST Weekly Awards... Sophomore Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.), who was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, led Providence with a goal in each victory last week. She scored the golden goal in the 107
th minute against Villanova and then gave the Friars an early advantage in the 12
th minute against Marquette. Hughes led the BIG EAST in shots (12) last week and led the Friars to a 36-12 shot advantage against their opponents.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Emma Bodmer (Monroe, Township, N.J.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. She went 2-0-0 on the week with a .857 save percentage and 0.46 goals against average. Bodmer earned her first shutout on the road at Villanova, giving her a total of four shutouts this season.
Series History Against St. John's… The Friars hold a 17-15-5 overall record against the Red Storm. Providence and St. John's tied, 1-1, in double overtime in both their meetings during the Spring 2021 season (April 8, April 11).
Scouting The Red Storm… St. John's enters the match with a 6-5-2 overall record, including a 2-3-1 mark in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm are coming off 4-3 overtime loss to Marquette on Thursday, Oct. 14.
St. John's was selected to finish sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll. Graduate student Zsani Kajan leads the Red Storm this season with 26 points on 11 goals and four assists. She was chosen as the Preseason BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year. Redshirt junior Naya Lipkens backs St. John's in goal with a 0.789 save percentage and 1.13 goals against average.
Up Next… The Friars will host the University of Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. in Providence, R.I. for their Pink Out game.
