NEW YORK, N.Y. – It was announced today (March 9) that Providence College grad student
Emmitt Holt (Rochester, N.Y.) earned the BIG EAST Sportmanship Award alongside Butler's Kamar Baldwin and Georgetown's Jagan Mosely. This is the first time Holt has received All-BIG EAST Honors and is the first Friar to receive the Sportmanship Award.
Holt, who missed almost two full seasons of action due to abdominal surgery, returned for a sixth season and is averaging 4.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game this while playing 15.2 minutes per game. For his career, Holt has recorded 641 total points (6.8 ppg) and 359 rebounds (3.8 rpg) in 94 games.
The Friars (19-12, 12-6) will return to action on Thursday, March 12 versus the No. 5 seed Butler Bulldogs (22-9, 10-8) in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals at Madison Square Garden. The game is set for tip-off at 2:30 p.m. on FS1.
