MOREHEAD, KY.– The Providence College volleyball team fell to Morehead State, 3-0, in its final match at the Morehead State Eagle Challenge on Sept. 8 in Morehead, Ky. The Friars evened their overall record at 3-3 on the year, while the Eagles improved to 5-1 on the season.
1st SET:
- The Friars dropped the first set 25-19.
- The set was tied, 12-12, before Morehead scored five-straight points to take a 17-12 lead.
- Providence cut the deficit to three points (17-14), but the Eagles held on down the stretch to take the win.
2nd SET:
- The second set was tightly contested, as the Friars trailed by just one point (9-8) after a kill by
Addison Root.
- The Eagles bumped their lead to four with three-straight points to take a 12-8 advantage.
- Providence got within three (16-13) and rallied again later in the set with three-straight points to find itself trailing by just four (23-19).
- Morehead answered with back-to-back points to take the set (25-19).
3rd SET:
- The Friars took an early 4-2 lead in the third set, before Morehead rallied for six-straight points to take an 8-4 advantage over PC.
- Morehead maintained its momentum throughout the remainder of the set, defeating the Friars, 25-14, to claim the match (3-0).
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:

Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) paced the Friars with nine kills on 13 total attacks (.692).
- Alderson's Her hitting percentage was the highest for either team in the match, accounting for players with 10-or-more attacks. She also finished with two block assists.

Caroline LaMacchia (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) led the Friars with 14 digs.

Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded 23 assists and seven digs.
- Barber was named to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the event.
WHAT'S NEXT:
Providence returns to action on Tuesday, Sept. 10 against intra-state rival Bryant. The match will be played at 7:00 p.m. in Smithfield, R.I. The Friars return home to Alumni Hall on Sept. 13-14 to host the 15
thAnnual Friar Volleyball Classic. The tournament will feature six matches over the course of the two-day event. Fairleigh Dickinson, Coppin State and Brown will join the Friars as 2019 participants.
