PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College junior forward
Josh Wilkins (Raleigh, N.C.) has signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Nashville Predators, forgoing his final year of collegiate eligibility.
Wilkins put together the best offensive season by a Friar in over 15 seasons, posting 46 points on 20 goals and 26 assists. The 46 points were the most since Jon DiSalvatore's 48 points in 2002-03 and he also was the program's first 20-goal scorer since Peter Fregoe in 2002-03. A First Team Hockey East All-Star in 2018-19, Wilkins' season was highlighted by the nation's longest point streak at 13 games and a run of 11 goals and six assists over his final 10 games of the season. In three NCAA Tournament games, he tallied four goals and two assists to lead the Friars to the Frozen Four Semifinals.
In 119 career games at Providence, Wilkins tallied 48 goals and 60 assists for 108 points, becoming the 54
th member of the program to reach the 100-point milestone. He recorded at least 30 points in each of his three seasons and finished his career with a +34 rating, 17 power play goals and 10 game-winning goals.
