Track’s Paladino Qualifies For NCAA Mile Final

Millie Paladino places fifth in the mile prelims to qualify for the finals on Saturday, Mar. 9.

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. –The Providence College senior Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W. VA.) raced in the preliminary heats of the women's mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Mar. 8.
Paladino took the lead from the gun. She would lead for the first 800 meters and then position herself in the middle of the pack for the rest of the race. With one lap to go, Paladino was in the lead pack but was then tripped and fell. She would get up and finish fifth in the heat in a time of 4:40.41 missing the auto and time qualifier. After the officials reviewed the race video, it was determined that Paladino was impeded and was moved to the finals.
The finals of the mile will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 5:10 p.m. ET. The race will be live streamed on ESPN 3.
