PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Providence College men's lacrosse players
Jarrod Neumann '17 and
James Barclay '18 have been named to the Chaos LC roster of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). The league, which will begin its inaugural season on June 1, announced its rosters on Monday, March 4.
The PLL is comprised of six teams, none of which are tied to a specific regional location. All six teams are slated to compete in at Foxboro's Gillette Stadium (June 1-2), New York's Red Bull Arena (June 8-9) and Chicago's SeatGeek Stadium (June 15-16). PLL action will return to Red Bull Arena on Sept. 14. Games will be broadcast via NBC Sports.
Neumann graduated from Providence College in 2017 and went on to serve as the program's graduate assistant, while completing his Masters of Business Administration. In his senior season, Neumann earned USILA/Nike Second-Team All-America recognition and was name to the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Third-Team. Additionally, the defenseman nabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-BIG EAST First Team recognition, BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors and NEILA All-New England First-Team accolades. Neumann also competed in the 76th Annual USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game. He was previously drafted 38
th overall by the Colorado Mammoth of the NLL (Sept. 2017) and 25
th overall by the Florida Launch of the MLL (May 2017).
Barclay was an integral part of Providence's defensive unit from 2015-2018. He played 60 games during his career, collected 100 ground balls and caused 48 turnovers. He played a significant role in the Friars' 2017 BIG EAST Tournament run, where the team made program history with its second-consecutive BIG EAST Tournament appearance and first BIG EAST Championship game appearance. Over the course of four seasons, Barclay tallied three points on three assists. Following his senior season, Barclay earned NEILA All-New England honors and was a unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection. He was drafted 57th overall by the Charlotte Hounds in the MLL Collegiate Draft (April 2018) and ninth overall by the Rochester Knighthawks of the NLL (Sept. 2018).
