Providence’s Millie Paladino Named Northeast Region Indoor Female Athlete Of The Year

Paladino earns 2019 NCAA Indoor Track Regional Award.

NEW ORLEANS, LA. - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association announced the 2019 NCAA Div. I Indoor Track & Field regional athletes of the year on March 1. Of those student-athletes receiving regional honors, Providence College track athlete Millie Paladino (Morgantown, W.Va.) was named the 2019 Northeast Region Female track athlete of the year. The regional award is determined by a vote of USTFCCCA member coaches.

This season, Paladino is ranked 10thnationally in the mile at 4:33.79. She also clocked a time of 2:42.13 in the 1,000 meters earlier this season, which is the 12th fastest mark in collegiate history and a school record. Last week, Paladino was crowned the BIG EAST 3,000-meter champion, making it her third BIG EAST title. Paladino is the first athlete from Providence to win this award since Emily Sisson in 2015.

Paladino will be competing in the Mile at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham, Ala. next week (Mar. 8-9). She is one of 16 athletes in the nation to qualify for this championship meet.
