EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – The Providence College Friars competed in first day of the 2019 BIG EAST Swimming and Diving Championships. The Friars set records a pair of records on the opening day of the meet.Â

Liam Straker bested the previous mark (6:49.12, 2014) in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay with a time of 6:46.69.Â

Lauren Zawacki reached the wall in1:45.63. The time was nearly two seconds faster than the Friar standard set in 2017 (1:47.12).
