WASHINGTON, D.C.-Â The Providence College volleyball team fell to the Georgetown Hoyas in straight sets, 25-14, 25-22, 25-23. The Friars fall to 6-20 overall (1-12 BIG EAST) and the Hoyas improve to 13-14 (3-10 BIG EAST).

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â The set started with five ties and three lead changes. Georgetown broke an 8-8 tie with a commanding 8-0 run to claim the lead in the set. The Hoyas went on to win the set, 25-14.

Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) and
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) led the Friars with two kills.
Â
Allison Barber recorded four assists and was one of three Friars with two digs.
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) and
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) tallied two digs, each.

SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â Providence started the set on a 7-2 run. After Providence led 11-7, Georgetown went on a pivotal 8-1 run to take the lead, 15-12. The Friars tied the set up at 18. The Hoyas claimed the last three points in the set, breaking a 22-22 tie, to win the set, 25-22.

Schaible paced the Friar offense with four kills on seven total attacks (.571 hitting percentage).

Barber had team-highs five assists and four digs. Taylor recorded four digs.

THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â Georgetown broke the early 3-3 tie with an 8-3 run to create distance in the set (11-6). Providence countered with a 6-1 run to tie the set at 12-12. The remainder of the set went back and forth with the latest tie being at 20-20. Georgetown held Providence off to win the set, 25-23.

Barber registered a set-high eight assists to go with three digs.

Root led the Friar defense with five digs.
