Volleyball Finishes Regular Season With DePaul and No. 9 Marquette

The Friars will recognize its seniors on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6:00 p.m. against the DePaul Blue Demons.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team finishes up its regular season this weekend at home against the DePaul Blue Demons and No. 9 Marquette Golden Eagles. The Friars will celebrate its seniors against the Blue Demons on Friday, Nov. 22 at 6:00 p.m. This match will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN). Providence concludes their regular season with No. 9 Marquette on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE FRIARS: Providence enters the final weekend with a 6-23 overall record, 1-15 in BIG EAST play. This past weekend, the Friars fell to Butler in straight sets and Xavier in four sets.
 
Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) led the Friar offense against Xavier with a season-high 13 kills on 19 total attacks. Schaible held a .632 hitting percentage in that match.
 
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) has recorded strong defensive efforts, leading the Friars in digs four out of the last five matches.
 
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) continues to be a steady contributor for Providence. Barber ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (8.12). Barber ranks first on the Friar with digs (306) and digs per set (2.89).
 
SCOUTING THE BLUE DEMONS: DePaul enters their final weekend with a 5-11 BIG EAST record, 13-15 overall. The Blue Demons went 2-0 this past weekend after defeating Villanova and Georgetown. After visiting Alumni Hall on Friday, they head to Creighton on Sunday for their last game of the season, due to being out of playoff picture. DePaul defeated Providence in four sets in the first meeting of the season on Oct. 12.
 
Brittany Maxwell was named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Nov. 19 for the third time this season after leading her team this past weekend. Maxwell recorded a double-double against Villanova with 15 kills and 10 digs. Maxwell registered 20 kills, seven service aces and five digs against Georgetown. She ranks third in the BIG EAST in kills per set (3.64) and points per set (4.15).
 
Isabelle Banez ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.71). In September, Banez earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors three weeks in a row. She averaged 4.67 digs per set this past weekend.
 
SCOUTING THE NO. 9 GOLDEN EAGLES: The No. 9 Marquette Golden Eagles enter their final regular season weekend atop of the BIG EAST standings. They hold a 15-1 conference record, 25-3 overall. The Golden Eagles are currently on a 10-match winning streak including two wins this past weekend against Georgetown and Villanova.
 
Allie Barber became Marquette's all-time kill leader on Friday against Georgetown with 1,776 career kills. Barber was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the sixth time on the season on Nov. 19 after averaging 5.25 kills per set. Barber leads the BIG EAST in kills per set (4.68), points per set (4.94) and ranks fourth in hitting percentage (.315).
 
Hope Werch earned her fifth weekly award on Nov. 19 after being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. Werch recorded two double-doubles this past weekend with 11 kills and 11 digs against Georgetown and 16 kills and 14 digs versus Villanova. Werch is first in the BIG EAST in service aces per set (0.51), fifth in hitting percentage (.312) and ninth in points per set (3.42).
 
Setter Lauren Speckman ranks eighth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (6.96).
