Volleyball Set To Host No. 10 Creighton

The Friars will play the Bluejays on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Both matches are set for 6:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team welcomes No. 10 Creighton to Alumni Hall this weekend for two matches. The first match will be Friday, Oct. 25 at 6:00 p.m. and the second will be Saturday, Oct. 26 at 6:00 p.m.
 
SCOUTING THE FRIARS: The Friars enter the weekend 5-16 overall (0-8 BIG EAST). Providence fell to Xavier and Butler this past weekend. Both matches ended in four sets.
 
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.313). Alderson ranks first in total blocks (48) and third on the Friars in kills (148).
 
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) checks in at seventh in the BIG EAST for assists per set (6.97). The junior currently ranks fifth all-time in program history with 2,870 assists. Barber leads the Friars in assists (613) and digs (208).
 
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) ranks fourth in service aces per set (0.46) and tenth in points per set (3.31) in the BIG EAST.
 
SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS: No. 10 Creighton comes to Alumni Hall riding a 10-game winning streak. The Bluejays are 15-3 (8-0 BIG EAST) with their only losses coming against ranked opponents. In their most recent BIG EAST action, Creighton defeated Butler and Xavier. Both matches ended in straight sets.
 
Freshman Keeley Davis has made significant contributions to the Bluejays. Davis ranks fourth in kills per set (3.74) and points per set (4.35) and fifth in service aces per set (0.44). Davis has claimed AVCA National Player of the Week, BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, and seven-straight BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honors.
 
Preseason All-BIG EAST unanimous selection Madelyn Cole leads the BIG EAST in assists per set (10.89) and ninth in service aces per set (0.33). Cole has been named to BIG EAST Honor Roll this season (Oct. 8).
 
Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Megan Ballenger ranks second in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.361). Ballenger has been recognized as BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 24) and BIG EAST Honor Roll (Oct. 22).
 
Preseason All-BIG EAST selection Brittany Witt leads the BIG EAST in digs per set (5.11). Witt has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week once (Oct. 15).
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Providence finish off their homestand with Seton Hall and St. John's. The Friars take on the Pirates on Friday, Nov. 1 at 6:00 p.m. and the Red Storm on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1:00 p.m.
