PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team returns home after two weekends on the road to host Xavier and Butler. The Friars will take on the Musketeers on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6:00 p.m. and the Bulldogs on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 1:00 p.m. The match against Butler will be broadcast live on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN) and the match against Xavier will be the annual Pink Out Friartown game.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS: Providence enters the weekend 5-14 overall (0-6 BIG EAST). The Friars fell to No. 10 Marquette in straight sets and DePaul in four sets in their most recent BIG EAST action.
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (8.51). The junior recently moved into fifth all-time in Friar volleyball history in assists (2807).
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) ranks third on the team in kills (133) and fourth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.330).
Jennifer Leitman (Irvine, Calif.) ranks in sixth in kills per set (3.09) and seventh in points per set (3.60) in the BIG EAST.
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) ranks second in kills (153) for the Friars. The senior is 24 kills away from 1,000 career kills.
SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS: Xavier stands at 6-10 (3-3 in the BIG EAST). Xavier defeated Seton Hall in straight sets before falling to St. John's in straight sets this past weekend.
Jayda Carlton ranks first in blocks per set (1.25) and 10
th in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.282). She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Oct. 15).
MaryAnn O'Toole and Madi Kutruff rank ninth (3.63) and tenth (3.60), respectively, in digs per set in the BIG EAST.
Lauren Hanlon leads the Musketeers in kills (154) and has been named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week once (Sept. 3).
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS: Butler comes to Providence with a 7-11 record (4-2 BIG EAST). The Bulldogs rank third in the BIG EAST standings after defeating St. John's and Seton Hall this past weekend. Butler has won four of its last five matches.
Megan Ramseyer has registered 647 assists on the season and ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (8.99).
Elizabeth LaBue ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.67).
Brooke Gregory is second in the BIG EAST in blocks per set (1.57) and averaging 2.71 kills per set. The senior played a pivotal role in Butler's 2-0 weekend and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (Oct. 15).
Melody Davidson ranks second in the BIG EAST in blocks per set (1.24) and has nabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors once (Oct. 8).
WHAT'S NEXT: Providence welcomes No. 11 Creighton for two matchups at Alumni Hall. The Friars will play the Blue Jays on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.
