VILLANOVA, PA. – Providence College volleyball fell to Villanova on the road on Oct. 12 in Villanova, Pa. With the loss the Friars are now 7-11 on the season and are 1-6 in BIG EAST play.

FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â
- The first set was a back and forth battle, with the Friars edged out, 25-22.Â

- Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) contributed to the Providence offense with 10 assists, to lead all players in the set.

- Root led the Friars' defense with four digs in the first set.Â

- Alderson and Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) contributed to the defense with three digs apiece. Â

SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence dropped the second set, 25-18

- Root, Alderson and Impellizeri led the Providence offense recording four, two and two kills, respectively.Â

- Barber assisted the offense by tallying 10 assists.

- Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Barber led the Providence defense with six and five digs, respectively.Â

THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars took a commanding lead early in the third set and never looked back, taking the victory 25-22.

- Root and Alderson were the strong forces on the offense, tallying six and four kills, respectively.Â

- Barber recorded 10 assists in the third set.

- Taylor and Barber each tallied seven digs to lead the Friars' defense.

FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:Â
- Providence fell to Villanova 25-16 in the fourth set.
Â
- Alderson led the Friars' attack with two kills, while Root and Impellizeri were not far behind with one kill apiece.Â

- Barber tallied four assists.
Â
- Onyundo and Taylor led the Providence defense recording four and three digs, respectively.

MATCH NOTES:
- The Friars fell to the Wildcats 3-1.

- As a team, Providence recorded 42 kills, 37 assists, 71 digs and seven and a half total team blocks. Â

- Root led the Friars' offense recording 14 kills, while Alderson was not far behind with 12 kills.

- Root recorded a double-double with 14 kills and 13 digs.Â

- Barber recorded a double-double with 34 assists and 16 digs.

- Taylor led the Friars on defense with 18 digs.
