Chris Rooney Signs With The Wheeling Nailers (ECHL)

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
Senior men's ice hockey forward Chris Rooney (Canton, Mass.) has been signed by the Wheeling Nailers of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The Nailers have three games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
Rooney played in 14 games as a senior and scored two goals while adding five assists for seven points. He appeared in 97 games as a Friar, netting seven goals and 26 assists for 33 career points.
Most recently, Rooney assisted on Kevin Rooney's first career goal (his cousin), which was scored in the semifinals of the Hockey East Championship Tournament at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. Chris Rooney's other season highlights included scoring a goal and notching an assist at Boston College on March 2 in Providence's 5-1 win.
Rooney will join Matt Germain '11 and Cody Wild '08 as former Friars who have suited up for Wheeling this season. The Nailers enter their final week of the season with a 30-28-3-8 record.
