Late Night Madness Festivities Hit Friartown

The doors opened at 7 p.m. with fans pouring into Alumni Hall on Friday, October 25 at the annual Late Night Madness Celebration in the College's Mullaney Gym. More than 3,000 Friar fans jammed into Alumni Hall to see the Friars hit the court. By 7:30 p.m., the capacity crowd cheered on the cheerleaders and the dance team as they performed. At 8:00 p.m., the women's basketball team and Head Coach Susan Robinson Fruchtl were introduced by DJ Nick Cannon.

The fans were treated to a festive atmosphere as the men's basketball team was introduced dressed in superhero costumes at 8:15 p.m. by DJ Nick Cannon. After the team and Head Coach Ed Cooley were introduced the team performed layups and freshman Brandon Austin captured the slam dunk contest.

Fox Sports 1 was on hand capturing highlights for the event for its BIG EAST Tip Off Show which aired tonight on Fox Sports 1 - the new home of BIG EAST basketball.

Following the men's team, the student congress held a dance competition. The night was capped off with a dance party led by DJ Nick Cannon.

Fans can catch up with the men's team in action on Saturday, November 2 at 5:30 p.m. as the team plays Rhode Island College in an exhibition game at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Fans can purchase tickets online at friars.com or by calling the Providence College Ticket Office at 401-865-2759.
