PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Future Friar Kris Dunn (New London, Conn.), one of Providence College men's basketball Head Coach Ed Cooley's recruits for the 2012-13 season, was named a Parade All-American on Saturday, May 27. Dunn helps to make up the Providence College recruiting class that is ranked sixth in the nation according to ESPN.com. He is the ninth Providence College player all-time to be named a Parade All-American.
Dunn, a 6-foot-3-inch, 186-pound point guard, will graduate from New London High School where he played for Head Coach Craig Parker. He led his team to a 23-3 record, averaging 31.4 points in the 2011-12 season. Dunn is ranked 23rd overall and second among point guards according to ESPN.com. He was named an ESPN High School All-American, Jordan All-American, McDonald's All-American, SLAM High School All-American and was invited to the 2012 USA Basketball U18 training camp.
During the 2010-11 season, Dunn helped lead New London High School to a 27-0 record and a state title after averaging 26.5 points, 10 rebounds and five assists per game in 2011. For his efforts, he earned the New Haven Register's State Player of the Year honors. Dunn played for the Connecticut Basketball Club AAU squad.
