Friars Finish Strong At Mt. Sac Relays

WALNUT, CALIF. - Providence College started the weekend off strong at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif. with a second place finish in the women's 10,000m from graduate student Katie DiCamillo (Garden City, N.Y.) and finished in similar fashion, highlighted by senior Hayden McLaren (Christchurch, New Zealand) who placed third in the 1,500m in the Invitational Division with a time of 3:43.95.

Sophomore Dominic Channon (Nelson, New Zealand) also had a strong performance in the 1,500 Invitational Division, placing seventh in 3:45.09. In the 1,500 Open Division, sophomore Julian Matthews (Nelson, New Zealand) took third place, finishing in 3:47.64.

In the women's action, sophomore Charlotte Ffrench O'Carroll (Dublin, Ireland) placed third in her section and seventh overall in the 1,500m Open Division. Ffrench O'Carroll crossed the line at 4:27.37. Five Friars competed in the 5,000m, led by junior Emma Perron (West Hartford, Conn.) who placed 10th in the Open "A" Division. Freshman Sam Roecker (Charlton, N.Y.) finished right behind at 15th in 16:43.78. Senior Breffini Twohig (Dublin, Ireland) placed 26th in a time of 17:22.47 and sophomore Mary Kate Champagne (Plattsburg, N.Y.) finished out the Open "A" competitors with a 31st-place finishing with a time of 17:35.48. Senior Krystal Douglas (Harpswell, Maine) placed 29th in the 5,000m Olympic Development Division.

Across town at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, Calif., junior Stephen Justus (Okanogan, Wash.) placed send in the javelin with a throw of 57.46m (188-06).

Up next for Providence are the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Penn. from Thursday-Saturday, April 22-24.
