Bill McCreary Named Hockey East Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College men's hockey forward Bill McCreary (Howell, Mich.) was named Hockey East Player of the Week on Monday, October 18. McCreary becomes the first PC player to earn the league's player of the week honors since Torry Gajda (Westfield, Mass.) on November 17, 2003.

McCreary, a sophomore, led the Friars to a 5-4 victory over the Merrimack Warriors on Friday, October 15 in the Hockey East opener at Schneider Arena. He scored two goals, including the game winner in the third period as the Friars improved to 2-0. McCreary, who also scored two goals in the season opener versus Clarkson on October 8, leads the Friars with four goals and three power-play tallies.

McCreary is the son of Marianne and Bill McCreary.

The Friars return to action on Friday, October 22 when they travel to Boston University to battle the Terriers beginning at 7:00 p.m.
