PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 1, 2004) -- The Providence College women's soccer team was shutout, 1-0 by Georgetown University on Friday, October 1, 2004 at Glay Field in Providence, R.I.
Georgetown dominated play, out-shooting the Friars, 19-6. The second half ended 0-0 with PC's freshman goalkeeper Ashley Fedyshyn (Lincroft, N.J.) making five saves. Senior BriAnne Bruni (Bristol, Conn.) led the Friar offensive taking three shots.
The game-winning goal came from junior Shara McNeill at the 83rd minute. McNeill dribbled past three defenders before firing off a partially-deflected shot five yards from the goal. McNeill leads the Hoyas and is tied for sixth place in the BIG EAST with 13 points on the season.
Fedyshyn recorded six saves in 90 minutes of play, while Jade Higgins posted one save on the night.
The Friars are currently riding a five-game losing-skid, its longest since losing six straight in the 1998 season.
Providence hits the road and returns to BIG EAST action on Sunday, October 3 at 1:00 versus Notre Dame at Alumni Field in Notre Dame, Ind.
