PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College sophomore Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) finished fifth and earned All-America honors in the finals of the women's 5,000 meters at the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track Championships at California State University in Sacramento, Calif. on Saturday, June 14. The 5,000 meters was won by Lauren Fleshman of Stanford in a time of 15:24.06. The Friars scored 10 points at the NCAA Championship and finished tied for 27th, which marks the team's highest finish at the outdoor championship since it placed 12th in 1995. The LSU women's team captured the 2003 NCAA title. Cullen ran the 5,000-meter race in a time of 15:58.47. With her fifth-place finish she earned her second All-America honor in 2002-03 as she also received the accolades in cross country.
