Women's Indoor Track Competes at St. Valentine Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Providence College women's indoor track team competed at the St. Valentine Invitational on Saturday, February 15 at the Boston University Pavillion.

Graduate student Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) recorded the best time by a collegiate athlete in the mile as she finished fourth overall in a time of 4:46.87 to qualify provisionally for the NCAA's. In the 800-meter run, senior Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland) finished fourth among all collegiate athletes in a time of 2:13.10. O'Shea qualified for the ECAC's.

In the distance medley relay, the quartet of freshman Fiona Crombie (Christchurch, New Zealand), sophomore Roisin Quinn (Waterford, Ireland), O'Shea and senior Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) finished first and set a course record in a time of 11:17.14. In addition, they automatically qualified for the NCAA's.

The Friars will compete at the BIG EAST Tournament on Saturday, February 22 in Syracuse, N.Y.
