PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College Hockey Coach Paul Pooley announced on Friday, December 19 that two student athletes each have signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Providence College, beginning in 2004-05. The two players are Dylan Cox (Newbury, Mass.) and Greg Park (Lumsden, Sask.).
Cox, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound center, plays for Exeter Academy of the New England Prep School Ice Hockey Association (NEPSIHA). Through six games, Cox has scored two goals, including one game winner, and added three assists for five points. Dylan is the son of Ralph Cox, who is the all-time leading scorer at the University of New Hampshire.
Park, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound defenseman, plays for the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). Through 32 games, Park has tallied five goals and 22 points for 27 points, which ranks second in the SJHL. Three of his five goals have come on the power play. In addition, he has recorded 57 penalty minutes. He is the son of Sherry and Ray Park.
In addition to Cox and Park, the Friars will welcome back sophomore Bryan Horan (Unionville, Conn.). Horan played for the Friars during the 2002-03 season and is currently playing for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the United States Hockey League.
