Women's Indoor Track Competes At Boston University

The Providence College women's indoor track teams competed at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts, on February 5.

Junior Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland) finished first in the mile run, with a time of 4:44.27, and qualified for the BIG EAST and NCAA Championships. Freshman Mary Cullen (Sligo, Ireland) and sophomore Lisa Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) finished fourth (4:59.66) and fifth (5:01.94) in the mile, repectively. Both Cullen and Cappello qualified for the BIG EAST Championship with their times in the event.

In the 800-meter run, freshman Deirdre Byrne (Avoca, Ireland) finished second (2:14.41), and qualified for the BIG EAST and ECAC Championships. Junior Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland) finished third (2:15.09) and qualified for BIG EASTs. In the 3,000-meter run, senior Kathryn Casserly (Galway, Ireland) qualified for the ECAC and BIG EAST Championships, finishing first in a time of 9:46.67. Sophomore Emily Tallen (Kingston, Ontario) qualified for BIG EASTs with a seventh-place finish (10:13.35).
