Men's Hockey Climbs to No. 11 in National Polls

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team is ranked 11th in the USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine Men's Hockey poll and the U.S. College Hockey Online poll, released on Monday, October 21. Last week, the Friars entered the top-15 national polls at No. 13 in the USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine poll and 15th in the USCHO poll.

The Friars defeated Minnesota State on Friday, October 18 (5-1) and Saturday, October 19 (5-3) to improve to 4-0. The Friars' 4-0 record marks the first time the team has started 4-0 since the 1990-91 season.

New Hampshire, which defeated defending NCAA champion Minnesota on Saturday, October 19, is ranked No. 1. UNH and PC are two of five HOCKEY EAST teams ranked in the top 15. Boston College jumped to No. 4 in both polls, while Boston University dropped two spots to No. 6. Maine is ninth in the USA TODAY/American Hockey Magazine poll and 10th in the USCHO poll.

The Friars are back in action on Friday, October 25 versus UMass-Lowell in the team's HOCKEY EAST opener at Schneider Arena.
