PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The 2000-01 Providence College men's hockey schedule was announced today and will feature 34 regular-season games and one exhibition contest. Eighteen of the Friars' 35 games will be played at PC's Schneider Arena. The first opportunity to see the Friars will be the team's only exhibition game on October 7 against Acadia University at PC's Schneider Arena. The game will start at 7:00 p.m. and admission is free.
This year's schedule includes home games against traditional hockey powers Boston College, Boston University, Lake Superior State, New Hampshire and Maine.
The Friars will open the season at Schneider Arena against Miami University on October 20. The following night, PC will play Lake Superior. Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m.
Providence will open its HOCKEY EAST season at home against Boston University on October 28 at 7:00 p.m. The Friars will play 24 games against league foes. In addition to league games against Boston College, Boston University, Maine and New Hampshire, PC will battle UMass-Lowell, UMass-Amherst, Merrimack and Northeastern.
This year's annual Mayor's Cup against Brown will be played at Brown's Meehan Auditorium on Saturday, November 4 at 7:00 p.m.
In addition to the contests against Miami and Lake Superior, PC's other non-conference home games will be against Union College on October 29, Iona College on January 12 and Holy Cross on January 14.
Tickets for all home games can be purchased Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the PC Ticket Office in Alumni Hall or by calling (401) 865-GO PC.
