Men's And Women's Track Finishes At Penn Relays

PENN RELAYS, Philadelphia, Pa. - April 29, 2000

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- The Providence College men's track teams competed in the 4 x mile relay in the Championship of America Division at the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 29 in Philadelphia, Pa. PC's relay team of sophomore Hamish Thorpe (Auckland, New Zealand), senior Larry Morrissey (Waterford, Ireland), sophomore Dermot Galvin (Kilrush, Ireland) and freshman Chris Livesey (Preston, England) finished fifth in a time of 16:31.26. The race was won by Arkansas in a time of 16:08.81.

On the women's side, the Friars ran their final race at the Penn Relays when the squad's 4 x 1,500 meter relay team placed 10th in the Championship of America Division. PC's team of freshman Roisin McGettigan (Wicklow, Ireland), freshman Emer O'Shea (Limerick, Ireland), sophomore Heather Cappello (Lockport, N.Y.) and junior Rachel Hixson (Media, Pa.) finished 10th in a time of 18:16.55.
