Providence, R.I. - The BIG EAST Conference has selected Providence College junior guard Donta Wade (Huntington, W.Va.) along with St. John's Bootsy Thornton as the BIG EAST Co-Players of the Week for the week ending February 27th.

Wade, a 6-2, 205-pound guard led the Friars to wins at Notre Dame (89-79) and at home versus Boston College (45-40) as PC put together its second three-game winning streak of the season. In the two games, Wade averaged 25.5 points along with 5.5 rebounds.

In the February 23rd win at Notre Dame, Wade scored a career high 38 points while making 12-of-23 field goals including a BIG EAST record ten three-pointers. The native of Huntington, West Virginia also set the league record for three-point attempts with 17 in the game. On Saturday, February 26th, Wade scored 13 points, including two key three-pointers with less than four minutes left in the game that put the Friars in the lead to stay. The former Huntington High School standout also grabbed a career high six rebounds in the low scoring, defensive struggle.

The two wins improved the Friars to 11-16 on the season and 4-10 in BIG EAST play. The Friars return to action on Wednesday, March 1st when they travel to Villanova of a 7:30 p.m. game with the Wildcats.

On the season, Wade is third on the team in scoring with 8.2 points per game and 2.2 rebounds. He leads the Friars with 45 three-pointers made and is among the league leaders in three-point shooting making 35.5% of his shots.
