Father John Vidmar is a Dominican Friar who came to PC in 2003. Father Vidmar, who is a part of the history and classics department, teaches various courses in Development of Western Civilization and Church History. He also serves as a faculty representative to the NCAA, chaplain to the women’s ice hockey team, and moderates the Irish Dance Club.
Before he began his duties at PC, Father Vidmar was ordained in 1980. He earned degrees from the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., a master’s in philosophy from the University of Edinburgh, and a doctorate in theology from the University of St. Thomas in Rome. He previously taught at the Ohio Dominican House of Studies and he was the academic dean at The Dominican House of Studies. He has also lectured extensively for the Smithsonian Institute.
Father Vidmar is from Cleveland, Ohio, and enjoys playing sports, cycling, gardening, bird watching, writing, and attending classical concerts. His favorite sport is baseball.
