No. 7-seed Friars will face No. 2-seed Wildcats in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 at 7:00 p.m.

FRIARS SET TO FACE NO. 2 SEED VILLANOVA IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT QUARTERFINALS... No. 7-seed Providence will face No. 2-seed Villanova in the BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 7 at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Tipoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on Peacock and NBC Sports Network.

FRIARS VS. WILDCATS ALL-TIME... Providence and Villanova have met 88 times during the history of the two women's basketball programs. The Wildcats lead the all-time series, 58-30. 

FRIARS VS. WILDCATS IN OVERTIME... Providence has compiled a 5-1 record vs. Villanova all-time in overtime games. The last time Providence and Villanova went to overtime was on Jan. 24, 2024 in Providence, R.I. The Friars claimed a 82-76 victory.

PROVIDENCE VS. VILLANOVA IN THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... The Friars and Wildcats have eight times in the BIG EAST Tournament and the Wildcats have recorded a 6-2 record, including wins in each of the last five BIG EAST Tournament match-ups between the two teams.

LAST TIME THE FRIARS AND WILDCATS MET IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... The last time Providence and Villanova met in the BIG EAST Tournament dates back to March 4, 2011. Villanova escaped with a 52-50 win in overtime at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn.

SABOU GUEYE NAMED TO ALL-BIG EAST FIRST TEAM... Providence College graduate student guard Sabou Gueye was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team on March 5. Gueye, a unanimous selection, is the 11th player in program history to earn All-BIG EAST First Team honors. She is just the second Friar in the last 32 seasons to earn First Team accolades and the first since Chelsea Marandola in 2010. Gueye averages a team-best 15.5 points per game, while shooting 49-percent from the field (210-425) and 76-percent from the free-throw line (70-92). She also contributes 6.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game. During BIG EAST regular-season action, Gueye started all 20 games and averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.9 steals per game. During the 2025-26 campaign, Gueye was an eight-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection.

PROVIDENCE ALL-TIME AT THE BIG EAST TOURNAMENT... The Friars have compiled a 24-37 all-time record at the BIG EAST Tournament.

FRIARS ALL-TIME AS THE NO. 7 SEED... Providence is 6-4 all-time as the No. 7 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament, including a 4-1 mark in the First Round. The Friars entered the tournament as the No. 7 seed in 2025 (0-1), 2021 (1-1), 2019 (1-1) and 1993 (3-1). In 2021 and 2019, the Friars were eliminated in the Quarterfinals. In 1993, the Friars advanced all the way to the Championship Game, where they were defeated by top-seeded Miami (77-56).

FRIARS CLAIM NO. 7 SEED FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT SEASON... Providence has earned the No. 7 seed for the second-consecutive season. Last year, No. 7 Providence was defeated by No. 10 seed Georgetown, 58-56, on March 7, 2025.  

BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... The Friars were picked to finish 10th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Oct. 21 at Madison Square Garden. Providence finished seventh in the final standings for the second-straight year with a 7-13 record during BIG EAST regular-season play.

SABOU GUEYE NETS CAREER-HIGH 31 POINTS IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT WIN OVER DEPAUL... Sabou Gueye scored a career-high 31 points on 15-26 shooting and added seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Friars' First Round win over DePaul on Friday. She scored the Friars' first eight points of the game and finished the first half with 17. She entered the game 17-point shy of the 1,000-point milestone. 

THIRD FRIAR IN PROGRAM HISTORY TO RECORD 30+ POINTS IN A BIG EAST TOURNAMENT GAME... Sabou Gueye is just the third Friar in program history to score 30+ points in a BIG EAST Tournament game and first since Tori Rule dropped 30 against Marquette in the First Round on March 7, 2015. Tori Rule and Sonya Lewis are the only other Friars to score 30-or-more points in a game – and both achieved the feat twice. Tori Rule – 30 vs. Marquette (First Round, 2015) and 35 vs. Georgetown (First Round, 2013). Sonya Lewis did it in back-to-back games of the same BIG EAST Tournament – 31 vs. Boston College (First Round, 1993) and 33 vs. Georgetown (Quarterfinals – 1993).

TENEISIA BROWN RECORDS FOURTH DOUBLE-DOUBLE IN BIG EAST TOURNAMENT WIN... Teneisia Brown recorded her team-best fourth double-double on March 6 vs. DePaul in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament. She finished the game with 14 points and 14 boards. Three of her four double-doubles have come against BIG EAST opponents. Brown also posted double-doubles against Central Connecticut (12 pts/14 rebs) and St. John's (11 pts/10 rebs) and a previous meeting vs. DePaul on Feb. 18 (14 pts/12 rebs). Sabou Gueye is second on the team in double-doubles. Gueye tallied 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Boston College and 16 points and 12 rebounds vs. Xavier. 

ORLAGH GORMLEY STUFFS THE STAT SHEET IN FIRST BIG EAST TOURNAMENT GAME... Orlagh Gormley missed the final 22 games of her freshman season last year and was unable to play in the BIG EAST Tournament in 2025. She made her tournament debut with Providence on Friday in the First Round vs. DePaul and stuffed the stat sheet. She recorded 13 points on 5-7 shooting, including a 3-3 performance beyond the arc. She also added five rebounds, seven assists and five steals. 

ORLAGH GORMLEY RECORDED 21 STEALS IN THREE GAMES VS. DEPAUL THIS SEASON... In three meetings this season against DePaul, Orlagh Gormley recorded a total of 21 steals. In the first meeting between the two teams on Jan. 4 in Chicago, Ill. Gormley collected a career-high nine steals. Her nine steals are the most by a Friar since Sarah Beal collected 10 against Bryant on Dec. 12, 2009. Gormley picked up five steals vs. the Blue Demons on Feb. 18 and added seven more in the First Round of the BIG EAST Tournament on March 6.

SABOU GUEYE NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL FOR AN EIGHTH TIME... Sabou Gueye was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, March 2.  It marked her eighth appearance of the season on the league's weekly awards list. The previous week, Gueye averaged 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 2.0 blocked shots and 2.0 steals in two games. She shot 45.2-percent from the field (14-31) and 71.4-percent from the free throw line (5-7). On March 1, Gueye recorded 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots against Marquette. She is just the third BIG EAST player in the last 15 years to record at lease 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocked shots in a BIG EAST game. She joined Aneesah Morrow (31 points, 22 rebounds, five assists and three blocks vs. Providence on Feb. 18, 2023) and Maddy Siegrist (31 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks vs. DePaul on Jan. 4, 2021).

15 & 7... The Friars' 15 wins overall and seven victories in BIG EAST play are the most since 2018-19. That year, Providence finished the year 19-16 overall and 8-10 in BIG EAST play. 

BUILDING BLOCKS... Under the direction of Head Coach Erin Batth, the Friars have recorded 6+ wins in BIG EAST play during each of her three seasons. Prior to her arrival in 2023-24, Providence claimed six-or-more wins in league play just five times since 2001-02.

65+... Providence is 10-2 when scoring 65+ points, including a 4-0 mark when scoring 70+. PC suffered its only two losses of the season when scoring 65-or-more points on Jan. 27 at Villanova (83-68) and March 1 vs. Marquette (69-65). 

ONE OF THE BEST IN THE BIG EAST... Grad transfer Sabou Gueye is an eight-time BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll selection this season. She finished the regular-season ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in scoring (15.0 ppg), ninth in rebounding (6.0 rpg), fourth in field-goal percentage (.489), 11th in steals (1.8 spg) and ninth in blocked shots (0.90 bpg). In BIG EAST Conference regular-season action, she ranks fourth in scoring (15.9 ppg), seventh in rebounding (6.5 rpg), third in field-goal percentage (.484), 10th in steals (1.9 spg), tied for 10th in blocked shots (0.90 bpg), third in offensive rebounding (2.35 orpg) and tied for ninth in defensive boards (4.15 drpg).

FLOOR GENERAL... Sophomore Orlagh Gormley has returned to the court as the Friars' floor general after sitting out the final 22 games of her freshman campaign with an injury. She impacts both ends of the floor, leading the team in assists (4.0 apg) and steals (2.5 spg), while contributing 8.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Gormley has recorded 3+ assists in 26 of the 31 games she has played, including 12 games with five-or-more assists. In the BIG EAST Tournament First Round victory vs. DePaul on March 6, Gormley dished seven assists.

100+ ASSISTS IN A SINGLE SEASON... Orlagh Gormley has dished 124 assists this season (4.0 apg). She is just the sixth Friar in the last 25 years to record 100+ assists in a single season and the six players have combined to do it eight times. In the last 10 years, only Janai Crooms has achieved the feat. Additionally, her 124 assists is the third-highest total in the last 25 years.

ON THE DEFENSIVE... Orlagh Gormley has collected 77 steals through 31 games, marking the most by a Friar since 2012-13. That year, Symone Roberts recorded 98 thefts. Gormley's 77 steals rank eighth in program history for a single season and the second most by a sophomore all-time. She has picked up 3+ steals in 13 games this season, including a career-high nine vs. DePaul.

HOME-SWEET-HOME... During the regular-season, the Friars recorded 11 of their 14 victories at home in Alumni Hall, including five of their seven BIG EAST regular-season wins. When playing away from home, the Friars posted a 4-10 record [2-9 in true road games; 2-1 at a neutral site]. Providence's true road wins came against DePaul (Jan. 4) and Georgetown (Feb. 14). 

FOUR-GAME WIN STREAK... During the late stages of the regular-season, Providence recorded a four-game win streak in BIG EAST Conference play, which came to a halt at top-ranked UConn on Feb. 22. Providence posted wins over Xavier (66-50), Butler (73-64), Georgetown (59-54) and DePaul (66-60). The last time Providence won four-consecutive BIG EAST regular-season games dates back to the 1995-96 campaign. 

BEYOND THE ARC... Payton Dunbar has hit a team-best 51 three-pointers this season (1.59 per game). She is tied for 18th in single-season three-point field goals made at Providence. The single-season record (93) was set by Jovana Nogic in 2018-19.

TENEISIA BROWN ECLIPSES 1,500 CAREER POINTS... Graduate transfer Teneisia Brown eclipsed 1,500-career points on March 6 vs. DePaul in the Friars' 69-59 BIG EAST Tournament victory. Brown arrived at Providence for her final season after stops at Merrimack (2020-22) and Fairleigh Dickinson (2023-25). She averaged double figures in the scoring column during each of her last three seasons of college basketball and currently ranks second on the team in scoring for the Friars through 32 games (10.1 ppg). Brown has a career scoring total of 1,510 points heading into the BIG EAST Quarterfinal.

1,000-POINT MILESTONE... Graduate transfer Sabou Gueye entered the BIG EAST Tournament 17-points shy of 1,000 for her career. Gueye scored 17 points in the first half of the Friars' First Round victory over DePaul on March 6. She finished the game with a career-high 31 points. In her lone season with the Friars, she has recorded a single-season career-best of 497 points. In her previous three seasons at New Mexico State and Florida A&M, she combined for 517 points. Gueye currently owns 1,014 points.

20-POINT GAMES... Sabou Gueye leads the Friars and ranks inside the top-five  in the BIG EAST with nine 20-point games. Gueye recorded just two 20-point games in the last three seasons. Seven of Gueye's 20+ point games have come during BIG EAST play. Three other players on the roster have scored 20+ points: Payton Dunbar 22 vs. Boston College, Orlagh Gormley 21 vs. Creighton and Teneisia Brown tallied 24 points vs. Marquette.

TENEISIA BROWN RANKS 19TH AMONG ACTIVE NCAA DIVISION I PLAYERS CAREER REBOUND... Teneisia Brown eclipsed 900 career rebounds in the Friars' game against St. John's on Jan. 27. In 134 career games, Brown has hauled in 961 boards for an average of 7.2 rebounds per game. Brown ranks 19th among active NCAA Division I players in career rebounds. This season, Brown is averaging a team-best 6.2 boards per game, which ranks 10th in the BIG EAST.

TENEISIA BROWN NETS FIRST 20+ POINT GAME AS A FRIAR... Teneisia Brown eclipsed the 20-point plateau for the first time as a Friar on Feb. 4 at Marquette. She scored 24 points on 11-21 shooting from the field. Brown became the first Friar to score 20+ points off the bench since Nariah Scott tallied 20 points vs. Georgetown on Feb. 21, 2023. Prior to arriving at Providence, Brown recorded 20+ points in 10 games.

20/20... Sabou Gueye (22 points) and Orlagh Gormley (21 points) each eclipsed the 20-point mark in the Friars' first meeting against Creighton on Jan. 17. The last time two Friars scored 20-points in the same BIG EAST game dates back to Jan. 24, 2024 against Seton Hall. Grace Efosa scored 29 points and Marta Morales Romero added 26 in a 82-76 victory in overtime. Additionally, the last time two Friars scored 20-points in a BIG EAST game of regulation length was on Jan. 27, 2017 in a 66-64 win over Marquette. Jovana Nogic scored 27 points and Sarah Beal chipped in 25.

DOUBLE DIGITS... Sabou Gueye leads the Friars in double-digit scoring games (24) and 20+ point games (nine). Nine other players on the roster have reached double figures, including Teneisia Brown (19), Orlagh Gormley (12), Payton Dunbar (10), Ashley Dinges (four), Sophi Hall (four), Princess Moody (two), Nalani Kaysia (one), Riley Hamburger (one), Sami Mancini (one) and Audrey Shields (one). 

TRACY LIS '92 TO BE HONORED AS PART OF THE THIRD ANNUAL BIG EAST BASKETBALL LEGENDS RECOGNITION PROGRAM... Former Friar Great Tracy Lis '92 will be honored at the BIG EAST Tournament on March 7 as part of the third annual BIG EAST Legends Recognition Program. Previous Providence College honorees include Britt King in 2025 and Kathy Finn Hill in 2024. Lis is one of the greatest players ever to wear a Friar uniform. She is the all-time leading scorer at Providence and ranks fifth all-time in scoring in BIG EAST action (1,296). During her career from 1988-92, she set 14 records, and is the only player to surpass the 2,000-point plateau at PC. In 1990, she led the Friars to the Sweet 16. In 1991, she helped propel the program to its highest ranking in the AP Poll (15th). She achieved a Providence College and BIG EAST Conference first when she was named Sports Illustrated Player of the Week, twice, during the 1991 season. Lis was a two-time First-Team All-BIG EAST selection, and also received the BIG EAST Special Achievement Award and was named ECAC Player of the Year (1992).  Lis played professionally for the New England Blizzard (ABL). Lis ranks first in career scoring (2,534 points) and steals (327) and fifth all-time in rebounding (821). Lis was inducted into the Providence College Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003 and her jersey was retired in January 2014.  Lis also was named to the BIG EAST Conference Silver Anniversary Team.
