Last Game
- The No. 18/17 Providence College men's hockey team blanked No. 12/14 Maine, 3-0, on Saturday night (Jan. 10) in Hockey East action at Schneider Arena. Freshman goaltender
Jack Parsons recorded his first NCAA shutout in the win as the Friars earned six points in the Hockey East standings.
- Providence outshot Maine 12-4 in an opening period which ended in a scoreless tie.
- The Friars scored their first shorthanded goal of the season 9:21 into the second to take a 1-0 lead. Josh Maine's Nadeau was stymied on a zone entry at the blue line by both
Donovan McCoy and
Alexander Bales.
Tanner Adams proceeded to collect the loose puck in his own end. He broke in alone on Rousseau and buried a shot inside the right post.
- Providence doubled its lead at 7:56 of the third on a giveaway by the Black Bears in their own end. Lukas Peterson flipped the puck into the slot from behind the Maine net, where it was intercepted by Aleksii Kivioja. He skated through the right circle before taking the puck to his backhand and lifting a shot into the top left corner for his second of the season.
- The Friars capped the scoring with a PP goal late in the third as
Will Elger fed
Andrew Centrella for his second of the season at 16:11.
Jonathan Fauchon was credited with the second assist on the goal.
- Parsons' shutout was the first for the Friars this season.
- The Friars earned their first two-game sweep over Maine since 2022 and the first shutout win over the Black Bears since Oct. 5, 2019.
Scouting the Eagles:
- No. 12/13 Boston College (11-6-1, 7-3-0 HEA) enters the weekend after an 8-2 exhibition win over Stonehill on Jan. 9. Prior to that, the Eagles opened the second half with a third-place finish in the Holiday Face-off in Milwaukee after a 5-3 setback to Western Michigan and a 4-3 win over Lake Superior State.
- Through 18 games this season, sophomore Dean Letourneau paces in the Eagles in scoring with 19 points on a team-high 11 goals. Jake Sondreal also boasts 19 points with a team-high 13 assists. James Hagens ranks third in scoring with 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists.
- Louka Cloutier, who split time in goal with Friar
Jack Parsons with the Chicago Steel (USHL) in 2024-25, has started 15 games with a 10-4-1 record, 2.15 GAA and .913 save percentage.
- Head Coach Greg Brown in his fourth season at the helm has posted an 86-36-10 record with two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Series History vs. Boston College (55-126-17, .321)
- The Friars have dropped three in a row in the series and five of six overall dating back to 2023. The last win came on Jan. 13, 2024 when the Friars knocked off a then-No. 1 ranked Eagles squad by a 4-3 score.
- Providence's last win in Chestnut Hill came in a 7-0 victory on Jan. 21, 2022. The teams then battled to three-consecutive ties before BC's currently 5-1-0 stretch against the Friars.
Svedebäck Named To Mike Richter Award Watch List
Providence College Senior Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden) was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List as the top NCAA Division I goaltender for the fourth-consecutive season. Svedebäck was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for November after he led all Hockey East goaltenders with a 1.86 GAA and ranked second in save percentage at .934. He logged a league-high 484:32 in November, totaling 214 saves over eight games played. In seven Hockey East games this season, he has posted a 4-2-1 record with a 1.84 GAA and .930 save percentage. In 17 overall appearances this season, Svedebäck is 8-6-2 with a 2.32 GAA and .918 save percentage.
Jack Parsons Earns Hockey East Rookie of the Week Honors
Freshman goaltender
Jack Parsons (Cortland, N.Y.) was named Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday (Jan. 12). It marked the first Rookie of the Week honors for the Friars this season. Parsons finished the weekend sweep over then No. 12/14 Maine stopping 46-of-47 shots for a .979 save percentage, including his first NCAA shutout in a 3-0 win on Saturday night. In five appearances this season, Parsons has posted a 3-1-0 record with a 1.99 GAA and .917 save percentage.
Goaltender Michael Simpson Added To The Roster
Michael Simpson joins the Friars after spending this season with the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL. With Savannah, Simpson recorded a 2.63 GAA and .909 save percentage in 10 games played. He participated in training camp with the Florida Panthers prior to the start of this season. In 2024-25, he appeared in a total of 16 games split between Belleville (AHL) and Orlando (ECHL). The two-time OHL Champion won titles with the Peterborough Petes in 2022-23, alongside current Friar
Donovan McCoy, and a championship the following season with the London Knights in 2023-24. He earned the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as OHL Playoff MVP with Peterborough in 2023 after turning in a pair of 50-save performances during the OHL Championship Series. He guided London to an OHL title and a runner-up finish in the Memorial Cup in 2024, winning the Happ Emms Memorial Trophy as the Most Outstanding Goaltender of the Memorial Cup. Simpson was a two-time OHL All-Star Team selection in 2023 (Third Team) and 2024 (Second Team).

Nine Former Friars Make NHL Opening Night Rosters
Nine Providence College alums appeared on NHL rosters submitted for opening night - Jacob Bryson (BUF), Mark Jankowski (CAR), Jake Walman (EDM), Noel Acciari (PIT), Vincent Desharnais (SJ), Max Crozier (TB), Brandon Tanev (UTAH), Brandon Duhaime (WSH) and Parker Ford (WPG).
Friars By The Numbers
The Friars are the ninth tallest roster in the NCAA (6'1"), seventh youngest (21.1 years). Providence is just one of only three programs to have one senior on their roster. The Friars boasted the sixth-most NHL players that appeared in games during the 2024-25 season with 14 total.
The Saskatchewan Connection
Three members of this year's roster hail from Saskatchewan -
Hudson Malinoski,
Roger McQueen and
Quinn Mantei. Malinoski and McQueen are childhood friends and played together with the Saskatoon Blazers AAA squad in 2021-22. Mantei and McQueen were teammates with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2022-25.
Drafted Friars
Providence boasts seven drafted players on the 2025-26 roster:

Logan Sawyer (MTL - 2024) and Philip Svedeback (BOS - 2021). McQueen became the highest draft pick in program history after being selected 10th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2025. Friar commit Everett Baldwin was also selected in the 2025 NHL Draft, going to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the fifth round.
