BUFFALO, N.Y. – Providence College men's hockey incoming freshmen
Ryder Cali (Penetanguishene, Ont.),
Blake Zielinski (Berlin, N.J.) and
Thomas Vandenberg (Nepean, Ont.) were selected on day two of the 2026 NHL Draft held at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y. on Saturday (June 27). Rising sophomore goaltender
Jack Parsons (Cortland, N.Y.) and future Friar Andrew Robinson (Oakville, Ont.) were also selected on Saturday.
Cali was selected in the second round (48
th overall) by the Florida Panthers. The 6-foot-2, 209-pound forward tallied 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points over 47 games in his rookie season with the Battalion. He recorded 11 multi-point games in 2025-26, including three multi-goal performances. Cali earned OHL Rookie of the Week honors on Oct. 20 after registering three goals and an assist over three games. Cali finished the season ranked No. 25 on the NHL Central Scouting rankings for North American skaters entering the 2026 NHL Draft.
Zielinski was selected in the third round (80
th overall) by the Los Angeles Kings. Ranked No. 51 among North American skaters entering the 2026 NHL Draft, Zielinski averaged 1.04 points per game in his second USHL season in 2025-26. He participated in the 2026 Chipotle All-American Game and won championships with the U.S. at the 2025 World Junior A Challenge and 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he led the U.S. in scoring with nine points on four goals and five assists. Zielinski was named to the 2026 All-USHL Third Team and was a 2025 USHL All-Rookie Second Team selection. He was named the 2026 recipient of the USHL's Gaudreau Award, an annual honor bestowed upon the player in the USHL who best embodies the legacy of Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau.
Vandenberg was selected in the fourth round (103
rd overall) by the Kings. Ranked No. 35 among North American skaters entering the 2026 NHL Draft, Vandenberg totaled 50 points on 25 goals and 25 assists with a +22 rating in 59 games with the 67s in 2025-26. In nine playoff games, he registered seven points on four goals and three assists. Vandenberg was named OHL Rookie of the Week on September 22 after posting four points, including a hat trick in his OHL debut against Kingston. He appeared in five games for Canada at the 2026 IIHF U18 World Championship, scoring one goal and participated in the 2026 Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game.
Robinson, a future commit, was selected in the fifth round (133
rd overall) by the Edmonton Oilers. Ranked No. 205 among North American skaters entering the 2026 NHL Draft, the 6-foot defenseman tallied nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points with a +36 rating in 63 games with the Windsor Spitfires (OHL) in 2025-26. He went on to accumulate eight points on two goals and six assists with a +9 rating in 13 playoff games.
Parsons was selected in the seventh round (220
th overall) by the Winnipeg Jets. A unanimous Hockey East All-Rookie Team selection in 2025-26, Parsons started 16-of-18 games to close out the season with the Friars, posting a 13-5-0 record overall with a 2.05 GAA and .922 save percentage. He boasted a nine-game winning streak in the second half which included shutout victories over Maine (1/10) and Boston University (1/24), netting him HCA National Rookie of the Month honors for January. Parsons turned away a career-high 43 shots at Boston College on Jan. 16 and recorded 11 appearances of allowing two or fewer goals.
