PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team was defeated by the Brown, 4-0, on Sept. 17 at Anderson in Providence, R.I. The Friars moved to  3-2-1 overall on the season, while Brown improved its record to 6-1-2. The Friars will return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 24 when they travel to St. John's to kick off BIG EAST play. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.

GAME FLOW & NOTES
• Brown struck first in the 33rd minute (32:57) when Joy Okonye scored a bar-down goal that beat the keeper in the top right corner. The goal gave  the Bears a 1-0 lead and was assisted by Rylee Keeley.
• Brown controlled possession in the first half and outshot the Friars, 9-3.
• In the 59th minute (58:04), Naya Cardoza scored a header on a corner kick from Brooke Birtwistle and gave the Bears a 2-0 lead. Birtwistle was credited with the assist.
• Brown added a third goal in the 72nd minute of action (71:16) and pushed its lead to 3-0. Ayla Sahin scored from inside the box and was assisted by Okonye.
• Angelina Vargas scored in the 87th minute (86:32) and gave Brown a 4-0 lead. Her goal was assisted by Ella Weil.
