Last Time Out vs. Merrimack
- The No. 7/7 Providence College men's ice hockey team rallied to a win on Saturday, March 1, topping Merrimack 2-1 at Lawler Rink to complete a two-game sweep over the Warriors.
- Merrimack struck for the lone goal of the period on a power-play marker from Seamus Powell at the 17:57 mark.
- The Providence penalty kill went to work in the second period, successfully killing off all three Merrimack attempts.
- As a power play expired, Chase Yoder one-timed a pass from Connor Kelley under the crossbar for his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at 12:31 of the second period. Nick Poisson earned an assist on the play.
- Tomas Machu fired a shot from the point that beat Lundgren and gave the Friars a 2-1 with just 0.9 seconds remaining in the period. Tanner Adams and Logan Will were credited with the assists.
- The Friars continued to stifle Merrimack defensively in the third period, limiting them to just three shots in the final 20 minutes and 13 overall in the game.
- Both of Machu's goal this season have been game-winning goals.
- Providence earns its second six-point weekend in league play this season (UNH, Nov. 1-2).
- The Friars post their eighth 20-plus win season under Nate Leaman and first since 2021-22.
- Borgiel surrendered just one goal on 13 shots against his former team and improves to 6-2-1 this season.
- Providence improves to 10-3 in one-goal games this season.
 
Scouting the Terriers:
- No. 10/9 Boston University (18-12-2, 12-8-2 HEA) enters their matchup with the Friars following a weekend without action. The Terriers last played on Tuesday, Feb. 25, where they tied UConn 2-2 before winning the shootout on the road.
- Through 32 games this season, forward Quinn Hutson (18-21-39) leads the team in goals with 18, followed by Cole Eiserman (16-8-24) with 16 and Ryan Greene (12-16-28) with 12.
- Cole Hutson (10-23-33) paces the Terriers in assists this season with 23, followed by Q. Hutson with 21 assists and Tom Willander (2-18-20) with 18 assists on the year.
- Overall, Q. Hutson leads the team in total points with 39, followed by C. Hutson with 33 points, Greene with 28 points, and Shane Lachance (10-15-25) with 25 points.
- The Terriers have split time in net this season, with freshman Mikhail Yegorov owning the last 10 starts between the pipes. In 10 appearances this season, Yegorov has led the Terriers to a 5-4-1 record while posting a 1.97 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. Boston has also started senior Mathieu Caron this season, who, in 21 appearances, posted a 12-6-1 record to the tune of a 3.16 goals against average and a .899 save percentage.
- On offense, the Terriers boast one of the strongest attacks across the NCAA, with an 11.9% shooting rate (3rd), 26.5% success rate on the power-play (4th), and 3.6 goals per game average (t-4th).
- Additionally, the Terriers have been one of the least-disciplined teams across the NCAA this season, with a nation-leading 13.7 penalty minutes per game.
 
Series History vs. Boston University (90-40-12, .703)
Thursday night's matchup with Boston University marks the third and final meeting between the Terriers and Friars this season. Since the 2021-22 season, Providence has fought to a 1-8-1 record with the Terriers, with the most recent result being Boston University's 3-0 win at home on Feb. 15. In that span, the Friars are 1-3-1 at Schneider Arena, 0-4-0 at Agganis Arena, and 0-1-0 at TD Garden when facing the Terriers.
 
Eight Former Friars Earn Spots On NHL Opening Night Rosters
The Friars boasted eight alums that appeared on NHL opening night rosters - Noel Acciari (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (VAN), Brandon Duhaime (WSH), Mark Jankowski (NSH), Kevin Rooney (CGY), Brandon Tanev (SEA) and Jake Walman (SJ).
 
Callahan/Ford Make NHL Debuts
Former Friar captain Mike Callahan '22 made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He finished the night with a +1 rating in 14:11 of ice time. He has appeared in seven games for Boston this season. Parker Ford made his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 30 against his hometown Boston Bruins, scoring a goal in his debut.
 
Connelly Wins Gold With the U.S. At The 2025 World Junior Championship
Freshman Trevor Connelly won gold with the United States at 2025 World Junior Championship after their 4-3 overtime win over Finland in the gold medal game on Jan. 5. Connelly finished the tournament with one goal, three assists and a +3 rating over seven games.
 
Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, 2023, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. On October 25, 2024, Leaman hit 400 career wins as a Division I head coach in Providence's 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Leaman is the only Hockey East coach to post a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons.
 
Leading the Pack
Through 33 games this season, Tanner Adams (11-11-22) leads the Friars with 11 goals on the year, followed by 10 from Graham Gamache (10-8-18), and nine from Hudson Malinoski (9-12-21). Logan Will (8-15-23) headlines the team in assists with 15 on the year, followed by John Mustard (7-13-20) with 13 and Andrew Centrella (2-12-14), Malinoski, and Austen May (0-12-12) with 12 apiece. Overall, Will paces the team with 23 total points, followed by Adams with 22 points and Gamache with 21 points. This season, 22 different players have tallied a point, including 14 players with 10+ points and seven players with 15+ points.
 
King of the Hill
Through 22 conference matchups, Providence (20-8-5, 10-7-5 HEA) sits in fifth place in the Hockey East standings with 36 points. Boston College (25-6-2, 17-4-2 HEA) currently sits in first place with 52 points, followed by Maine (21-6-5, 13-4-5 HEA) in second place with 48 points, Boston University (18-12-2, 12-8-2 HEA) in third place with 40 points, and Connecticut (19-10-4, 11-8-4 HEA) in fourth place with 37 points. Providence has a game in hand on BC and UConn. With two games remaining, the Friars can finish no lower than seventh place and no higher than third place.
 
Yoder Sets Program Record For Games Played
Appearing in his 163rd game as a Friar on Feb. 8, captain Chase Yoder stands along with the most games played in program history, passing former teammate Cam McDonald.

Svedebäck, Richard, Adams Nominated for 2025 Hobey Baker Award
Providence College men's ice hockey junior goaltender Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden), senior defenseman Guillaume Richard (Cap-Sante, Que.), and sophomore forward Tanner Adams (Northport, N.Y.) were all named as nominees for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award on Wednesday (Jan. 22). In 20 games this season, Svedebäck has posted a 14-6-4 record alongside a 2.37 GAA and .914 save percentage. Richard has posted one goal and 10 assists this season to go alongside a team-leading 41 blocked shots. Adams paces the Friars in goals this season with 11 and is tied for second in overall scoring with 22 points on the year.
 
Quick Draw
This season, the Friars have won 54.9% of their face-offs, tied with Niagara for the fourth-best total across the NCAA.
