Elisa Smith was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- It was announced today (March 10) that Providence College softball student-athlete Tori Grifone (Sussex, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week. Junior outfielder Elisa Smith (Glen Allen, Va.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
Graduate student Tori Grifone had a standout performance during the BIG EAST home-opening weekend, posting a 2-0 mark against Creighton. She pitched a conference-high 11 innings, finishing with a 1.27 ERA and a league-best 15 strikeouts. Grifone limited the Bluejays to a .200 batting average, allowing just eight hits and two earned runs across both games. She played a pivotal role in the Friars' 4-3 comeback victory over Creighton on March 9, striking out nine batters and holding Creighton scoreless in the final inning, which allowed Providence to secure the comeback win in the bottom of the seventh.

Smith earned BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second consecutive week. The junior finished weekend action going 3-for-7 (.429) at the plate, with all three hits coming in the Friars' win on March 9. She registered two RBI, two runs scored and a .571 slugging percentage and .636 on base percentage to help the Friars earn a 2-1 series victory over the Bluejays. Smith currently leads the team in hits (20) and slugging percentage (.519).
The Friars will host a doubleheader against Yale on Wednesday, March 12. The first game will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Glay Field in Providence, R.I. Both matchups will be available for stream on FloCollege.
