PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College freshman forward
Logan Sawyer was named Pro Ambitions Hockey East Rookie of the Week on Monday, February 3. Sawyer is the fourth Friar rookie to earn the recognition this season –
Will Elger (Oct. 28),
Trevor Connelly (Nov. 11) and
John Mustard (Dec. 2).
Sawyer finished the weekend with three points on a goal and two assists. On Friday, he opened the scoring in a 3-3 tie against No. 9 UConn and followed up with a two-assist performance in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Huskies at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn. In 26 games with the Friars this season, Sawyer has tallied three goals and nine assists for 12 points and a +8 rating.
The No. 7 Friars will host No. 5 Maine for a pair of games at Schneider Arena this weekend (Feb. 7-8).
