Last Time Out vs. Boston University
- The No. 7/7 Providence College men's ice hockey team defeated No. 9/8 Boston University on Friday (Feb. 14), winning 6-3 at Schneider Arena.
Alexander Bales (East Amherst, N.Y.) posted a career-high four points in the win with a goal and three assists.
- Providence opened the scoring 7:09 into the first period, when
Trevor Connelly (Tustin, Calif.) collected the puck in the neutral zone from
Tanner Adams (Northport, N.Y.) before skating through the Terriers' side of the ice, crashing the net and beating Yegorov blocker-side to make it 1-0.
Alexander Bales earned the secondary assist on the feed from the Providence zone.
- The Friars doubled their advantage just over four minutes later, when
Chase Yoder (Fairview, Texas) won the puck on the forecheck, stick-lifting Boston's Ryan Greene behind the net before cashing in on a wrap-around effort, giving Providence the 2-0 lead.
- The Terriers cut the lead in half 5:46 into the second period, as BU's Ryan Greene finished on a one-timer feed, capitalizing on the power-play.
- Just 20 seconds later, Providence regained their two-goal lead, as
Hudson Malinoski (Saskatoon, Sask.) finished on a rebound in the crease, putting the Friars ahead 3-1. Adams and Bales were each credited assists on the play.
- With 3:31 to go in the middle frame, the Friars found their fourth goal of the night, as Bales put the puck on net from the left face-off circle, deflecting off a Yegorov skate and into the net, pushing the Providence lead to 4-1. With the goal, Yegorov's night came to an end, as the Terriers subbed in senior netminder Mathieu Caron.
- The Friars extended their lead 12:53 into the third period, as
John Mustard (Oradell, N.J.) took a pass from
Nick Poisson (Vancouver, B.C.) before firing on net, beating Caron high glove-side to cushion the Providence lead at 5-1.
- On Saturday, the No. 7/7 Providence College men's hockey team was shut-out at No. 9/8 Boston University, falling 3-0.
- Both teams were held scoreless through the opening period, with the Terriers holding a 10-9 edge on the shot chart.
- Boston University broke the tie late in the second period, with goals from Jack Harvey and Sascha Boumedienne giving the Terriers a 2-0 cushion through 40 minutes of play.
- With 7:58 to go in the third, BU's Quinn Hutson extended the Terriers' lead to 3-0, bringing about the final score.

Scouting the River Hawks:
- No. 13/13 UMass Lowell (15-11-3, 8-9-2 HEA) enters their matchup with the Friars following a home-and-home set with Northeastern, where the River Hawks fell 2-0 on Friday (Feb. 14) in Boston before topping the Huskies 3-1 at home on Saturday (Feb. 15).
- Through 29 games this season, forwards Scout Truman (8-8-16), Dillan Bentley (8-6-14), and Chris Delaney (8-6-14) lead the team in goals with eight apiece, followed by Owen Cole (7-10-17) with seven and Lee Parks (6-5-11) with six.
- Forward Mirko Buttazzoni (5-12-17) paces the River Hawks in assists this season with 12, followed by both Ben Meehan (3-11-14) and Nick Anderson (1-11-12) with 11 each.
- Overall, both Cole and Buttazzoni lead the team in total points this season with 17 each, followed by Truman with 16 points and Bentley, Jak Vaarwerk (5-9-14), Delaney, and Meehan with 14 points on the season.
- In net, the River Hawks have split starts between senior netminder Beni Halasz and graduate student goaltender Henry Welsch. In 15 games played, Halasz has led the River Hawks to a 5-6-2 record to the tune of a 2.49 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. This weekend's matchup with UMass Lowell marks the third and final meeting between the River Hawks and Friars this season. Svedebäck Named Hockey East Goaltender of the Month/Mike Richter Award Watch List
Providence College junior Philip Svedebäck (Växjö, Sweden) was named Stop It Goaltending's Hockey East Goaltender of the Month for December on Friday, January 3. This marked Svedebäck's first-career monthly recognition as a Friar. Svedebäck led all Hockey East goaltenders in December with four wins. He stopped 79-of-87 shots he faced last month, good for a 2.00 GAA and .908 save percentage. Overall in 2024-25, Svedebäck is 12-6-4 with a 2.40 GAA and .914 save percentage in 22 games played. For the third-consecutive season, he was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List for the top NCAA Division I goaltender.

Eight Former Friars Earn Spots On NHL Opening Night Rosters
The Friars boasted eight alums that appeared on NHL opening night rosters - Noel Acciari (PIT), Jacob Bryson (BUF), Vincent Desharnais (VAN), Brandon Duhaime (WSH), Mark Jankowski (NSH), Kevin Rooney (CGY), Brandon Tanev (SEA) and Jake Walman (SJ).

Callahan/Ford Make NHL Debuts
Former Friar captain Mike Callahan '22 made his NHL debut with the Boston Bruins on Jan. 14 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He finished the night with a +1 rating in 14:11 of ice time. He has appeared in seven games for Boston this season. Parker Ford made his NHL debut for the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 30 against his hometown Boston Bruins, scoring a goal in his debut.

Connelly Wins Gold With the U.S. At The 2025 World Junior Championship
Freshman
Trevor Connelly won gold with the United States at 2025 World Junior Championship after their 4-3 overtime win over Finland in the gold medal game on Jan. 5. Connelly finished the tournament with one goal, three assists and a +3 rating over seven games.

Leaman Hits Milestone
Head Coach
Nate Leaman earned his 249th career victory at Providence on Nov. 11, 2023, passing Lou Lamoriello as the program's winningest head coach all-time. On October 25, 2024, Leaman hit 400 career wins as a Division I head coach in Providence's 3-2 overtime win at Vermont. Leaman is the only Hockey East coach to post a winning record in each of the last 12 seasons.

Tanner Adams (Northport, N.Y.) were all named as nominees for the 2025 Hobey Baker Award on Wednesday (Jan. 22). In 20 games this season, Svedebäck has posted a 12-6-4 record alongside a 2.40 GAA and .914 save percentage. Richard has posted one goal and nine assists this season to go alongside a team-leading 40 blocked shots. Adams paces the Friars in goals this season with 10 and ranks third in overall scoring with 19 points on the year.
