Last Weekend
Providence claimed a pair of exhibition victories last weekend over Simon Fraser (7-1) and Quinnipiac (2-1).
Will Elger and
Logan Sawyer led the way for the Friars against Simon Fraser, each tallying a goal and two assists. Sawyer followed up with the game-winning goal against Quinnipiac on Sunday.
Aleksi Kivioja also tallied goals in both games over the weekend. Philip Svedeback stopped 40-of-41 shots he faced over two games.

Preseason Notes
- Coming off their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024-25, the Friars enter the 2025-26 campaign returning five of their six top scorers from a season ago -
Hudson Malinoski,
Tanner Adams,
John Mustard,
Graham Gamache and
Will Elger.
- A revamped roster consists of 12 newcomers to the program, highlighted by the 10th overall selection of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2025 NHL Draft,
Roger McQueen (Saskatoon, Sask.) and Chicago fourth-rounder
Julius Sumpf (Munich, Germany). The Friars also bring in reigning QMJHL MVP
Jonathan Fauchon (Saint-Claire, Quebec), who led the league in scoring last season with 103 points on 46 goals and 57 assists, also earning Third Team All-CHL accolades.
- The team was selected to finish second in the 2025 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday (Sept. 16). Providence earned three first-place votes while tallying 91 points in the poll. The Friars begin the regular season seventh in the USCHO.com Poll and sixth in the USA Hockey/AHCA Poll.
- The Friars announced junior
Graham Gamache as the team's captain for the 2025-26 season.

Scouting the Wolverines:
- Michigan enters the weekend with the Friars at 2-0 overall after opening the season with a two-game sweep over Mercyhurst where they outscored the Lakers by a 18-1 margin.
- Michael Hage leads the Wolverines with seven points (2-5-7) over the first two games of the season, followed by Will Horcoff's five points on five goals and Malcolm Spence's five points on two goals and three assists.
- In goal, freshman and Nashville draft pick Jack Ivankovic stopped 25 of 26 shots he faced in the opening weekend against Mercyhurst, good for a 0.50 GAA and .963 save percentage.

Series History vs. Michigan (1-4-0, .200)
- Providence and Michigan will meet for the sixth and seventh time this weekend. The teams opened the 2023-24 season in Ann Arbor where the Friars earned a 4-2 victory in the opener before a late rally fell short in a 5-4 Michigan win the following day.
- This weekend marks Michigan's first-ever visit to Schneider Arena.
- Prior to two meetings in the 2000s, the only other matchup between the schools came in the 1964 Frozen Four where the Wolverines earned a 3-2 victory.

Senior netminder Philip Svedeback is the current active NCAA wins leader at 46 wins and ranks second with 95 career games played and minutes played (5647:47).

Friars By The Numbers
The Friars are the ninth tallest roster in the NCAA (6'1"), seventh youngest (21.1 years). Providence is just one of only three programs to have one senior on their roster. The Friars boasted the sixth-most NHL players that appeared in games during the 2024-25 season with 14 total.

The Saskatchewan Connection
Three members of this year's roster hail from Saskatchewan -
Hudson Malinoski,
Roger McQueen and
Quinn Mantei. Malinoski and McQueen are childhood friends and played together with the Saskatoon Blazers AAA squad in 2021-22. Mantei and McQueen were teammates with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2022-25.
