PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 9/7 Michigan Wolverines improved to 3-0-0 on the season with a 5-1 win over the No. 7/6 Providence College men's hockey team on Friday night in non-conference men's ice hockey action at Schneider Arena.

NOTES
- The Wolverines opened the scoring less than two minutes into the contest on Michael Hage's third goal of the season. Nick Moldenhauer sent an outlet pass to Hage, who cut to the net from the right wing and beat Svedebäck with a backhander.
- The Friars drew even at one 10 minutes later when John Mustard banged in a rebound off a shot by Logan Swayer at 11:28. Graham Gamache picked up the secondary assist.
- T.J. Hughes put Michigan back in front for good with 20 seconds remaining in the first as he sent the puck inside the right post from the top of the crease.
- Both squads went 0-for-2 with the man advantage in the first, which closed with PC holding a 9-7 edge in shots.
-Michigan took control of the game in the second as it outshot the Friars 17-3 and tallied three goals to build a 5-1 lead after 40 minutes of action.
- The Wolverines closed the game by outshooting PC 11-8 over the final 20 minutes.
- Providence falls to 11-4 all-time in season-openers under Nate Leaman.
