PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 9/8 Providence College men's hockey team opened their first of two exhibition games with a 7-1 victory over Simon Fraser University (B.C.) on Friday night (Oct. 3) at Schneider Arena.

Fast Start: Sophomore Logan Sawyer opened the scoring just 3:47 into the game on assists from Alexander Bales and John Mustard.
Offensive Explosion: The Friars scored four goals in the second period to break the game open. Graham Gamache found the back of the net twice, including a power-play tally. Hudson Malinoski and Tanner Adams each added in goals during the middle period as the Friars led 5-0 after 40 minutes.
Third Period Finish: Will Elger scored on the power play early in the third to extend the Providence lead to 6-0. Aleksi Kivioja capped the scoring with the team's seventh goal of the night off a feed from Brendan Ross.
Balanced Attack: Five different players recorded multi-point nights. The trio of Sawyer (1G, 2A), Elger (1G, 2A), and Gamache (2G) combined for eight points.
Newcomer Contributions: Donovan McCoy (2A), Kale McCallum (1A), Quinn Mantei (1A), Julius Sumpf (1A) and Martin Masa (1A) all found the scoresheet for Providence.
