The Friars will host Simon Fraser on Friday before welcoming in #13 Quinnipiac on Sunday.
Preseason Notes
- Coming off their 16th NCAA Tournament appearance in 2024-25, the Friars enter the 2025-26 campaign returning five of their six top scorers from a season ago - Hudson Malinoski, Tanner Adams, John Mustard, Graham Gamache and Will Elger.
- A revamped roster consists of 12 newcomers to the program, highlighted by the 10th overall selection of the Anaheim Ducks in the 2025 NHL Draft, Roger McQueen (Saskatoon, Sask.) and Chicago fourth-rounder Julius Sumpf (Munich, Germany). The Friars also bring in reigning QMJHL MVP Jonathan Fauchon (Saint-Claire, Quebec), who led the league in scoring last season with 103 points on 46 goals and 57 assists, also earning Third Team All-CHL accolades.Â
- The team was selected to finish second in the 2025 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll released on Tuesday (Sept. 16). Providence earned three first-place votes while tallying 91 points in the poll. The Friars also begin the season ninth in the initial USCHO.com Poll and tied for eighth in the USA Hockey/AHCA Poll.
- The Friars announced junior Graham Gamache as the team's captain for the 2025-26 season. Hudson Malinoski, Aleksi Kivioja and Tomas Machu will serve as alternate captains.
- Providence will open the 2025-26 regular season next weekend (Oct. 10-11) against Michigan. It will mark the Wolverines' first-ever trip to Schneider Arena and just the sixth and seventh meetings all-time between the schools.
