The Friars earned their first victory of 2025-26 on Saturday against the Engineers.
TROY, N.Y. – Will Elger scored twice and Philip Svedeback made 28 saves as the No. 14/13 Providence College men's hockey team earned its first victory of the season with a 5-1 decision over RPI on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 18) at Houston Fieldhouse.

NOTES
- The Friars held a territorial advantage over the Engineers in the first period, outshooting the hosts by a 7-3 margin and successfully killing off two power-play chances for RPI.
- Will Elger gave Providence its first lead of the 2025-26 season as he wired a wrist shot short-side on Carson Dorfman for his first goal of the season. Hudson Malinoski and Andrew Centrella earned assists on the play.
- The Friars extended their lead to three early in the second period.
- Clint Levens buried his first of the season off a backhand feed from Beau Jelsma at 5:20 of the second period. Jelsma tallied his first collegiate point with the assist.
- Elger struck for his second of the day, this time on the power play to give Providence a 3-0 lead. Julius Sumpf and Roger McQueen both earned their first NCAA points on the play.
- Jonathan Fauchon scored his first NCAA goal with a power-play strike at 8:10 of the third period. John Mustard and Centrella assisted on the play.
- Logan Sawyer capped the scoring for the Friars with his first goal of the season at 11:01.
- Ten Friars found the scoresheet on Saturday night. Elger and Centrella led the way with two points each.
